Sea of Voices

The sea often inspired poets and writers. In the same manner, the first TEDxPatras is inspired by the sea and comes with the title “Sea of Voices”.

A Sea of Voices that carries the sense of experience and transfers messages of knowledge, feelings and true stories. These voices don’t try to impose, they travel and lead to personal routes in a way that each one of us will become a voice to be heard. Voices that create waves and sculpt even the most hard and firm rocks. Waves that bring on the shore and at TEDxPatras messages to be spread and saved on Saturday 25th of April 2015.

Theatre "Lithographion"

"Lithografion Theatre" is the first integrated multiplex Cultural Center of Patras. It is housed in the old and historic Printing-Pressroom "Diakidi". The building was constructed in 1939 and is considered a prime example of industrial architecture. "Lithografion" has a central stage for theatrical performances, concerts and screenings, an "Upper Area" for performances, workshops, art installations, exhibitions, a "foyer" for presentations, reading clubs, poetry etc. and a courtyard. This year it celebrates 15 years of operation and is the first private theater of Patras, with its own productions and engagements.

About

TED

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out in 1984 as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then TED expanded to a program consisting of a series of different types of events of international interest attracting speakers, viewers and ideas from different disciplines. TED now consists of a network of events, in global and local level. Among the TED events are the two annual conferences (TED Conference and TED Global), the TED Talks video site, the annual TED Prize and the local TEDx events. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations). Selected talks from these events are also turned into TED Talks videos.

TEDx

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations)
